A federal district court in Wisconsin has ruled in favor of an atheist organization and declared the National Day of Prayer UNCONSTITUTIONAL. Its been part of Americas history and heritage since the founding of our country, a day set aside for prayer. Now, a misguided federal court has stepped in and this time-honored tradition may come to an end.
The ACLJ has been involved with this case from the start. Were preparing to file an amicus brief with an appeals court in support of the National Day of Prayer. Its a case that could end up at the Supreme Court of the United States decided by the next appointee to the high court.
Stand with the ACLJ and Members of Congress in defending this longstanding American tradition. Read the form below carefully and declare your membership with the ACLJ by adding your name to our Committee to Protect the National Day of Prayer.
COMMITTEE TO PROTECT
THE NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER
It is deeply disturbing that a federal district court in Wisconsin has issued a decision declaring the National Day of Prayer unconstitutional.
This court failed to understand that a day set aside for prayer for the country represents a time-honored tradition that embraces the First Amendment, not violates it. This decision runs counter to well-established legal precedent that such proclamations and observances like the National Day of Prayer not only reflect our nations rich history, but are indeed consistent with the Establishment Clause of the First Amendment.
Therefore, I stand with the American Center for Law and Justice as they pursue all necessary litigation routes in order to protect and defend this longstanding American tradition the National Day of Prayer.
