As the Iranian president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, continues to threaten Israel and freedom-loving nations, Iran has now launched a massive, brutal campaign of violence and oppression against its own citizens crushing human rights and violating international law. I am outraged by the unlawful, violent actions of the Iranian government and its president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, and am clearly voicing my concern on behalf of Irans freedom-loving citizens.

Its time that Iran is held accountable for its serious and repeated violations of human rights and international law. I am deeply concerned by the unlawful prosecution by the Iranian government of its citizens in connection with the controversial election.

As your Rapporteurs responsibilities dictate, we urge you to take strong and prompt action regarding Irans abuse of fundamental human rights and international norms in violation of international law.

The human rights and dignity of the Iranian citizenry is in the utmost peril and must be ensured by all legal remedies available, and I strongly support you using the full power and influence of your office to work toward this end result.
