President Donald Trump is planning to send 10,000 troops to the southern border to bolster Border Czar Tom Homan and ICE’s mass deportation efforts even further. Now we don’t know if the 10,000 are in addition to the 1,500 troops already sent to secure the border. Regardless, President Trump is moving quickly to fulfill his promise to keep Americans safe – yesterday’s broadcast also detailed the 308 illegal immigrants (many of which were charged with rape and murder) being sent back to their countries.

The Commander-in-Chief has the authority to deploy troops if they believe a national emergency requires the military. Trump’s strategy is much different than building a wall or redefining “birth citizenship” – moves that could come under legal attacks. Just yesterday we told you how New Jersey (and 21 other states) is suing the Trump Administration over the Executive order to stop automatically guaranteeing citizenship to anyone born on U.S. soil.

Not only will the troops’ presence curb illegal crossings, but also the drug cartels will have a harder time convincing people to forfeit their life savings in exchange for being transported across the border. As a result, we should see much less human trafficking and drug mules coming across the border.

Remember that Trump is still waiting for the Senate to confirm South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem (for Secretary of Homeland Security) and Pete Hegseth (for Secretary of Defense). Instead of waiting – what could be months – for his national security team to get in place, President Trump is sending troops and ICE to go ahead and start removing illegal immigrants. He doesn’t want to be playing catchup after his Administration is fully confirmed.

In the meantime, the ACLJ is sending a demand letter to the Senate to quickly confirm Trump’s national security team. The safety and security of our constitutional republic depend on it. Sign our petition to add your name to our petition.

Don’t forget that tomorrow is the March for Life, the largest pro-life march in the country. Two years ago, the ACLJ stepped in to defend pro-life students and adults who – after participating in the march –  were harassed and threatened after wearing pro-life shirts and hats at the National Archives and the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum.

The ACLJ represented these students and other Americans who were victimized and sued the museums in D.C. federal court. After litigation and extensive negotiations, we settled the lawsuits against the Smithsonian and the National Archives in a big win for our clients.

Against the backdrop of a historic presidential election, Senators Todd Young (IN) and Ted Cruz (TX), who both had engaged with this situation early on, sent the leadership of the Smithsonian Institute and the National Archives a strong warning: If what happens to our clients happens again, there’ll be a price to pay. And you are being watched.

When these violations happened, Senators Young and Cruz, along with their colleagues, forced the museums to respond to letters demanding information, including what steps are being taken to ensure it never happens again.

The Senators’ letters are already getting national attention. They are forcing the Smithsonian and National Archives to report on how they are adhering to settlement terms.

We applaud the Senators for taking action again before this year’s March for Life. They want these museums to feel the heat, even while so much else is happening in Washington. The Senators understand that protecting the First Amendment requires vigilance. You can’t get wins and walk away. Instead, you must put in the effort to protect the wins.

If you or someone you know has any issues like this while in D.C. for the March for Life this year, contact us at ACLJ.org/HELP. The ACLJ will spring to action to protect your liberties just as we did the liberties of pro-life advocates two years ago.

Today’s Sekulow broadcast included a full analysis of President Trump’s plan to send 10,000 troops to fortify our borders. ACLJ Senior Advisor for National Security and Foreign Policy Ric Grenell reacted to NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte saying that Europe will foot the bill for U.S. arms to Ukraine.
