A Seattle federal judge just blocked President Donald Trump’s Executive order that banned granting birthright citizenship to the children of illegal immigrants. He condemned the Executive order as “blatantly unconstitutional” and issued a nationwide injunction that will be in effect for 14 days.

The judge’s move comes on the heels of 22 states filing a lawsuit against Trump’s Executive order, which involves broad interpretations of the 14th Amendment’s definition of “birthright citizenship.” This ruling will likely be appealed, and we are nowhere near the merits stage of this case.

Keep in mind that Pom Bondi is not in place as Attorney General. She and her deputies would be running the departments that defend Trump’s Executive orders. Until Trump’s Cabinet is confirmed by the Senate it’s bureaucratic officials who will be handling the far Left’s lawsuits.

We were also honored to have Senator Bill Hagerty (TN) join our program to discuss the Senate’s upcoming confirmation vote on Pete Hegseth for Secretary of Defense:

Right now it looks like the timing will be 8:30–9:00 p.m. tonight for [Hegseth’s confirmation vote.] . . . I should make note that the Democrats have done everything they can to slow this process down – throwing every procedural roadblock in our way that they possibly can. Senate Majority Leader John Thune has made it clear that if that’s the case, we’ll just stay here all weekend. It’s my plan to be here until the wee hours of Sunday morning or Monday morning. We’re just going to stay here and keep doing this.

We applaud Senator Hagerty for being willing to fight to get Trump’s team in place. The ACLJ is sending a demand letter to the U.S. Senate, calling for the Senate to confirm Trump’s national security team as quickly as possible. Take urgent action with us, and join our demand letter.

Much is happening overseas right now with the ceasefire between Hamas and Israel. ACLJ Senior Advisor for National Security and Foreign Policy Ric Grenell reacted to Hamas naming four hostages it plans to release on Saturday.

This is the most hope we’ve had in a very long time – thanks to Donald Trump, we’ve really been able to shift the paradigm. We still need this to be a lot faster. There needs to just be a fundamental change [in how] Hamas is releasing individuals. Don’t trickle it out. So that’s frustrating. But we are in a position – the United States must be very clear about two things. [First,] we need to be fighting for our American hostages that are being held hostage. That should be our priority. [Second,] we should be supporting our ally Israel.

We also have the report that some freed Israeli hostages were held in a U.N. war camp. Unfortunately, this news isn’t shocking to us at the ACLJ because we’ve been sounding the alarm about U.N. organizations that fund terrorists.

Even before the attack on October 7, the ACLJ drew attention to the illegal ties of the U.N. Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) to the UNHRC and repeatedly requested defunding and a denial of continuing UNRWA’s mandate. Since October 7, it has been confirmed with overwhelming evidence that as many as 1,200 staff members of UNRWA have ties to Hamas.

So far, the only action from the U.N. has been the firing of nine staff members, with no other repercussions. It is past time for the U.N. to take decisive action to correct and end the corruption within its own organization. We also pray that all the remaining hostages are safely returned home.
