The Deep State’s Latest Political Target

The Deep State’s mission to derail President Donald Trump’s Cabinet picks continues. Almost 100 previous national security bureaucrats wrote a letter expressing strong concerns about former U.S. Rep. Tulsi Gabbard’s nomination as the Director of National Intelligence.

The letter, sent to Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (NY) and Senate Majority Leader-Elect John Thune (SD), scathingly blasted Trump’s nominee:

Several of Ms. Gabbard’s past actions call into question her ability to deliver unbiased intelligence briefings to the President, Congress, and to the entire national security apparatus.

Following her trip to Syria, for example, Ms. Gabbard aligned herself with Russian and Syrian officials. . . .

We also note that Ms. Gabbard, if confirmed, would be the least experienced Director of National Intelligence since the position was created. . . . The Senate must carefully evaluate whether Ms. Gabbard is equipped to effectively oversee an organizational structure as unique and large as the National Intelligence Program and also the effect of her holding this position on the willingness of our closest allies to share intelligence with the U.S.

The Deep State has been in full force as of late. Intense pressure led to former U.S. Rep. Matt Gaetz (FL-1) withdrawing his candidacy for U.S. Attorney General, and a firestorm erupted this week over Pete Hegseth’s nomination for Secretary of Defense and Kash Patel’s nomination for Director of the FBI.

And do you remember the last time we had a letter signed by dozens of former intelligence officials? Oh right . . . the letter by officials who claimed the Hunter Biden laptop story was “Russian disinformation” – an allegation that was completelydebunked.

Now we have a similar tactic being employed against Tulsi, who is the Sekulow broadcast’s Senior Military and Political Analyst. She is a personal friend whom we’ve gotten to know well over the past year.

The letter accuses Tulsi of being a Russian asset, so from the onset it’s Russia, Russia, Russia all over again. The letter also ridiculously says Tulsi would be “the least experienced” individual to ever be considered as the Director of National Intelligence.

I guess they forgot that Tulsi has been actively serving our country for two decades in the military (currently a Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Army Reserves). And she has been a key figure in politics as a former U.S. Representative and former Vice-Chair of the Democrat National Committee. To say she is inexperienced is asinine.

Let’s also talk about the letter’s lead author, Wendy Sherman, who served under Hillary Clinton and John Kerry as Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs from 2011–2015, and most recently as United States Deputy Secretary of State in the Biden Administration. She has been at the forefront of some of the worst foreign policy decisions at the State Department for decades.

She was the lead negotiator for Obama’s Iran Nuclear Deal. That should tell you a lot. And her fingerprints were all over the Afghanistan withdrawal debacle. She is a swamp creature with a long history of empowering the Deep State.

ACLJ Senior Advisor for National Security and Foreign Policy Ric Grenell elaborated on Sherman’s failures:

Wendy Sherman has been at the forefront of almost every single failed foreign policy that we’ve had. Her reputation is [being] called “What Do You Want” Wendy because when she goes into negotiations, she gives everything away. She’s been duped by North Korea. She’s been duped by Iran one too many times. She is literally the symbol of weak foreign policy. She helped create this global chaos, and then she left the State Department. Wendy Sherman should be completely dismissed from American foreign policy. She’s proven to be a failure and a weak negotiator over and over. She’s made us less safe. So that should be the end of the Wendy Sherman tenure.

If the Deep State is in full panic over Trump’s Cabinet picks, it’s a good sign that Trump is choosing the right people. The Trump Administration needs to remain steadfast in getting its choices through the confirmation process.

We just had a referendum vote expressing that Americans are unhappy with how the country is being governed. Putting the right leaders in place is how draining the D.C. swamp begins.

Today’s Sekulow broadcast included a full analysis of the Deep State’s dragging Tulsi through the mud. We also discussed Senator John Fetterman (PA) on The View calling for Trump to be pardoned.
