China’s Confession Fuels Tariff War
Listen tothis article
Under the Biden Administration, the U.S. sounded the alarm about China potentially embedding malware in key infrastructure centers. The shocking news exposed our vulnerabilities in defending ourselves from foreign adversaries.
And now we find out that the outgoing Biden Administration had a private meeting with Chinese officials in Geneva. In the meeting, Chinese government officials admitted to hacking into U.S. infrastructure in retaliation for U.S. support of Taiwan.
Normally, adversarial governments don’t admit wrongdoing, usually blaming a “rogue” group. But no, in this instance, the Chinese government fully admitted to the cyberattacks. The Biden Administration pretty much brushed off the discovery yet still briefed the incoming Trump Administration.
However, I believe the ongoing tariff war with China is partly fueled by the open admission to cyberattacks on the U.S. China’s cavalier attitude illustrates its worsening relationship with the U.S.
We are also seeing in real-time what happens when you have a strong U.S. President (instead of a weak one) informed of a foreign attack. Who can forget Biden’s slow response to the Chinese balloon that traversed the country?
The Trump Administration isn’t backing down: The tariffs on China will rise to 145%. If China is brazen enough to admit to cyberattacks on the U.S., you can believe Trump won’t respond in a weak manner.
Former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo reacted to China openly taking credit for cyberattacks on the U.S.
It makes me laugh to think somehow that anyone doubted for a moment that the Chinese Communist Party wasn’t hard at trying to take down the U.S. in really fundamental ways. And so now we have evidence that in December, the Chinese told them, Yeah, we did this; we were partly responsible for this. But we’ve known for many, many years that the Chinese were preparing to go after infrastructure: think telecommunications, think financial services, think our energy pipelines, even think of things like dams and waterways. The Chinese Communist Party has been hard at this, and we have a lot of work to do to defend ourselves and to continue to deter them from actually executing in ways that can really hurt ordinary Americans across the country and our economy.
We will keep you updated on future developments regarding the U.S. and China trade war.
Yesterday, we told you about a new election integrity lawsuit that we just filed on behalf of the Oklahoma GOP (OKGOP). Conservative voters in the Sooner State are alarmed by far-Left activists who are attempting to disrupt Oklahoma primaries by pretending to be conservative. We represented the OKGOP during the 14th Amendment lawsuits last year.
Former State Senator Nathan Dahm (OK-33), who now chairs the OKGOP, explained the importance of the current lawsuit:
First of all, let me absolutely thank you all. You’ve always been great to work with, and we were thrilled to have that last victory on the 14th Amendment case, with you leading the charge in that. So we’re happy to partner with you once again. But what we’re seeing is, essentially, the Democrats – their ideology – have been rejected time and time again, especially here in Oklahoma. They had control of the state for over 100 years, and then Republicans gained control because people compared the principles and platforms of the party [and] rejected what the Democrats stand for. And so we see that now they’re trying to change the system, game the system, do anything they can to infiltrate. And now they’re trying to actually amend the Oklahoma Constitution and take away the right of free association, take away the ability of the parties to determine who is voting in their primary election.
The far Left will employ similar tactics in other states if successful. We must win this lawsuit to preserve election integrity not only in Oklahoma but nationwide. Stand with us now and make your voice heard in these critical battles by signing our election integrity petition. We can’t do it without you. Also, donate to our Life & Liberty Drive to have gifts doubled.
