CBN News - Milwaukee School Goes on With Graduations

CBNNews.com - A Milwaukee school district is moving forward with plans to hold its high school graduations at a nearby church, despite a federal lawsuit.
Americans United for Separation of Church and State filed the suit against the Elmbrook school district on behalf on behalf of nine students.
They want the two high school graduations moved away from Elmbrook church, because they say it violates the rights of non-Christian students.
CBN News spoke with Jay Sekulow of the American Center for Law and Justice about the case. He says holding a public school graduation inside a church building is not an endorsement of Christianity.
"We are not saying go out and only use churches," Sekulow explained. "We are not saying use churches. If you got your own facility, great. But if you've got a tight budget and a church saying, 'Use it for free,' save the money, and use it for books and teachers salaries. Don't spend it on an event fee."
The school's superintendent told CBN News that he has no plans to move the graduations. He says there is simply not enough space to hold the graduations at the schools and students have voted for the change of venue for several years.
