If You Care About Democracy . . .

Nothing screams “democracy” quite like letting noncitizens who reside in the United States illegally participate in our federal elections – or so the Left would have you think.

U.S. Rep. Claudia Tenney (NY-24) said it best:

Nothing interferes more with our elections and our democratic process than to allow people who have not created and given up the responsibilities of citizenship, but are receiving the benefits of citizenship. And I think that’s really important. One citizen, one vote.

The Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act, introduced by Rep. Chip Roy (TX-21) and Sen. Mike Lee (UT), would prevent that from happening by requiring proof of citizenship to cast a ballot and obligating states to remove noncitizens from their official lists of eligible voters. The House passed the bill, clearing the chamber in a 221–198 vote, even garnering the support of five Democrats voting in favor of it: Reps. Henry Cuellar (TX-28); Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15); Jared Golden (ME-2); Don Davis (NC-5); and Marie Gluesenkamp Perez (WA-3).

Yet the radical Left, which staunchly opposes the bill, can’t offer a good reason for why they are against it. Their only game is to finger-point. For example, Rep. Joe Morelle (NY-25), who oversees election policy, said:

For all the hysterical rhetoric . . . Republicans have one real purpose here: to continue to erode the confidence of Americans in our election system.

Morelle’s far-Left colleague, Rep. Teresa Leger Fernandez (NM-3), whined:

It is shameful and unpatriotic when Republicans take aim at voter participation.

I’m not sure Congresswoman Fernandez realizes what she said. It is actually the complete opposite of patriotism to give noncitizens a say in the future of American democracy.

It was the Left in 2016 that went nuts about “foreign interference in our elections,” yet without the SAVE Act . . . what’s stopping Russians from crossing the southern border and casting a vote? This feels like direct interference.

The SAVE Act continues to sit on Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer’s desk collecting dust, and for every single undocumented immigrant who slips into the United States, our elections become more and more unstable.

House Speaker Mike Johnson railed against how simple it is for illegal immigrants to register:

If someone goes to the local office to sign up for public benefits, they are also handed a short form that says do you want to register to vote? All you have to do to participate in the elections is check a little box and say I’m a U.S. citizen, yes register me to vote. There’s no proof required and we think that’s outrageous.

Rep. Anthony D’Esposito (NY-4), who serves on the Homeland Security Committee, is fed up with the radical Left’s tactics:

The SAVE Act says it all. And, you know, if there’s people that are wondering and they lay in bed at night as so often I do and think to yourself, “Well, why do the Democrats keep allowing all these people to come into this country illegally?” Well, the fact that nearly 200 people voted against the SAVE Act, the fact that Chuck Schumer still has yet to take it up in the Senate and probably won’t, is an indicator as to exactly why that border’s wide open.

It’s important to note that as of May 2024, nearly 2 million “gotaways” (illegals who have been encountered by border patrol agents or via video and escaped) crossed over the southern border.

If only we had a BORDER CZAR to clean up this catastrophic mess.

Oh, wait . . .

Remember when Joe Biden named Kamala Harris the “border czar” in 2021? The Left doesn’t.

But he certainly did. During a press conference at the White House, Biden said:

I can think of nobody who is better qualified to do this. . . . When she speaks, she speaks for me. She doesn’t have to check with me.

It would appear that Vice President Harris certainly never checked with him. Further, she abandoned her duties. People are STILL asking how Kamala Harris would respond to this epic border crisis as President. The answer to that question is exactly the same way she’s responded since she was named “border czar” three years ago – with her so-called “real solutions” that address “root causes” – idle rhetoric that obviously means nothing.

If Kamala Harris were President, the southern border would still be wide open. Undocumented immigrants would continue to pour in and disappear.

What the American people must realize is that every time an undocumented immigrant casts a vote, it cancels out YOUR vote.

So if you care about democracy, the answer is so simple. Only Americans should vote in AMERICAN elections.
