This is the first installment in a year-end series looking back at a few of the many victories by the ACLJ in 2017.

After a more than a year legal advocacy campaign we helped ensure that a conservative justice took the late Justice Antonin Scalia’s seat on the Supreme Court.

Last year we blocked President Obama from ramming a Supreme Court nomination through before the American people had a voice at the polls. The American people spoke at the polls, the President kept his campaign promise to nominate a rock solid conservative to the Supreme Court of the United States, and the Senate followed through on its constitutional responsibility and confirmed the President’s pick.

President Trump wisely chose Judge Neil Gorsuch – a principled constitutional conservative – to be the next Associate Justice of the Supreme Court.

The Left immediately began to attack, but because of Judge Gorsuch’s impeccable credentials, their only option was to stonewall. The Senate Minority obstructionists launched and unprecedented filibuster of this qualified nominee. They refused to allow a vote.

Our government affairs team again sprung to action urging the Senate Majority to employ the constitutional option – the same maneuver used by then-Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid while President Obama was President.

Nearly a quarter million of you joined our fight, signing our petition to “Confirm Judge Gorsuch to the Supreme Court.”

Through our aggressive advocacy and your voice, Judge Gorsuch was confirmed and is now Justice Gorsuch. This is a tremendous victory for the Constitution, the rule of law, and the American people that could impact the Supreme Court for decades to come.

Rest assured, there will be more Supreme Court Justice confirmation fights ahead. With your support, we look forward to a winning streak that continues to elevate excellent, rock solid conservatives to the Supreme Court.
