The American Civil Liberties Union is bound and determined to eliminate God from our national landscape. They have been at it for years and they are NOT going to give up. They are just as focused on leading the charge to save the cruel practice of partial-birth abortion. But we are just as determined as they are! Today, we need your help to STAND UP to the powerful ACLU. To declare your membership with the American Center for Law and Justice, simply add your name and address below.
STOP THE ACLU!
This fall, we are facing an array of challenges from the ACLU and similar groups.
- We've filed an amicus brief with the Supreme Court of the United States representing 78 members of the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives as well as 322,275 members of our Committee to Protect the Ban on Partial-Birth Abortion in support of the federal ban ... all based on the Gonzales v. Carhart case out of Nebraska, which weve been involved in from the beginning. (We'll keep fighting the ACLU and the abortion lobby with your help!)
Recently, the Supreme Court has agreed to hear a second case involving the constitutionality of the ban. Taking this second case clearly elevates one of the most culturally significant issues of our time. The stakes are high, and we are very pleased that the Supreme Court now has the opportunity to abolish what can only be described as "infanticide." The ACLJ will continue to represent our members and members of Congress before the Court in this new Ninth Circuit case. - We are working to preserve the right to public expressions of faith, especially in cases where the ACLU is trying to eradicate Ten Commandments monuments. Last year, the Supreme Court was split in their decisions in two of our Ten Commandments cases so we are continuing to push hard for resolution via cases throughout the country, particularly in major cases out of Kentucky and Utah.
- When the ACLU sued to have an historic cross removed from the Mt. Soledad war memorial, we plunged in representing 22 members of Congress and backed by thousands of concerned ACLJ members. We went all the way to the Supreme Court of the United States, filing an amicus brief asking for a stay, to keep the City of San Diego from being forced to take down the cross or pay debilitating fines, pending the outcome of the litigation. We won that stay but it was a temporary measure only. But the ACLU has gone back on the offensive filing yet another lawsuit. The President of the United States has recently signed legislation (which we helped put forward) designed to protect the Mt. Soledad cross by moving it under federal authority ... yet the ACLU has gone to court against the cross anyway. We will not pause in the battle for constitutional freedom and religious liberty. We will continue to do everything in our power to preserve the right to express religious faith in public.
There are, of course, many other cases underway and the ACLU is by no means our only opponent. But they are clearly our primary and most formidable opponent, with an enormous budget and hundreds of lawyers. Join the ACLJ today and let us be YOUR voice as we fight the ACLU.
When you join, we will send you an ACLJ membership card, a copy of Jay Sekulow's new booklet, Protecting Your Liberties: How to Know and Preserve Your Rights, as well as a copy of our latest DVD, Life, Liberty and the Law. As a member, you will have unique access to timely and critical updates on issues and cases most significant to our religious liberties and constitutional freedoms in America today.
