"Wait, wait ... we're fighting two wars and President Obama wins Nobel Peace Prize? Seems to telegraph his Afghanistan decision." That was my first tweet on Friday morning when, like the President, I was woken up by shocking news - a President in office for little more than 9 months had just won the Nobel Peace Prize.  Even more shocking, the President was nominated for the prize in February, during his second month in office.

Then, I thought about it.  The Nobel Peace Prize award does not telegraph the President's decision on Afghanistan. Instead, the European liberal elite are attempting to force the President's hand on two main issues - whether or not he will trust his generals and commit to a troop surge in Afghanistan and how the United States will handle the Iranian nuclear emergency.
