As of this morning, there is still no confirmed date regarding the vote for Judge Alitos confirmation to the Supreme Court of the United States.  At this point, were dealing with what is called a soft filibuster.  That is, the minority of the United States Senate has not yet agreed to a scheduled cut-off date for debate.  We are urging the Senate to move quickly on this nomination.  My concern is the longer this goes, the more difficult the confirmation process can become.  While it is apparent that Judge Alito has the necessary votes to be confirmed, delay tactics seem to be ruling the day.

I was pleased that Judge Alito cleared the Senate Judiciary Committee, but that is now old news.  It appears that Democrats on the Committee, as well as in the full Senate, have put partisan politics above their constitutional obligation to advise and consent.  My goal is still to see a vote by the end of this week.  We are in a major battle for the future direction of the Supreme Court and much is at stake.  Your participation in our petition, which is being updated regularly to the United States Senate, is critical.  Please click here to sign the petition and let your voice be heard.

Frank Manion has also notified me that we will be filing two new cases on behalf on pharmacists as early as tomorrow.  These cases involve pharmacists who are refusing to dispense medications that induce abortions. This is the cutting-edge area of litigation in the pro-life movement.  Medical professionals should not be placed in the position of having to give up their right of conscience and be compelled to participate in a procedure which they believe terminates human life.  We will keep everybody posted as these cases progress.
