Today we applaud the Senate for moving to end debate on the nomination of Judge Alito to the Supreme Court, clearing the way for a vote on the Senate floor tomorrow.  The final hurdle has been cleared in confirming Judge Alito for a seat on the Supreme Court. The last push by a small number of Democrats to filibuster the Alito nomination was clearly rejected by Senators in both political parties.  This eleventh-hour tactic was not only unfortunate, but entirely predictable by a highly partisan group of obstructionists.  Judge Alito will be confirmed tomorrow as an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court and will serve the high court and the nation very well.
