Christmas Nativity Banned: ACLJ Takes Brighton, NY to Federal Court

Polverino v. Brighton
Christmas Nativity Banned: ACLJ Takes Brighton, NY to Federal Court
STATUS:
Ongoing

For over two years, a Brighton, NY resident has sought permission to place a Nativity scene in the Town's Twelve Corners public square — the same square where a privately sponsored Ramadan banner has been displayed. His calls, letters, and in-person visits went unanswered. After Brighton ignored a formal demand letter, the ACLJ has now filed a federal complaint, arguing the Town cannot open its square to one religion's display while shutting out another's, and seeking to secure the Nativity's place.
