The Palestinians have just threatened the United States and Israel ahead of President Joe Biden’s upcoming visit. Palestinian Authority (PA) President Mahmoud Abbas has threatened to cut security agreements with Israel and the U.S. if Israel attempts to annex parts of the West Bank.

PA President Abbas, who also serves as Chairman of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) – directly connecting him to two organizations with violent terrorist ties – is a very wealthy man, due in part to pocketing foreign aid money meant for his own people. Tearing up the security agreements between the PLO and Israel would be a fool’s gambit. If Abbas cancels the agreements, Israeli Security Forces would be immediately forced to pull out, clearing the way for HAMAS to take over and run Abbas and the PLO, which has only remained in power because of the presence of Israeli Security Forces, just like Hamas did in Gaza.

President Abbas and the PA have actually presented a list of demands to President Biden as he’s preparing to meet with him. Abbas has demanded that the U.S. reopen its consulate office in East Jerusalem. Remember that the ACLJ supported the move of the U.S. consulate to Jerusalem to serve all of Israel, but that’s not enough for the Palestinian leader. Abbas also demanded that the PLO be removed from a Congressional list of terrorist organizations. And they want their former diplomatic office in Washington D.C. to be reopened, giving them a presence in our capital.

The idea of a leader of an illegitimate state with direct ties to deadly terrorists is making demands of our President is absurd. Yet here we are. The PA seems to have no fear about threatening a sitting U.S. President, and why would it, when the Administration continually shows nothing but weakness and incompetence. The entire world sees it.

President Biden is preparing to embark on his upcoming international tour, which the White House continually tries to spin as anything but a “begging for oil” mission. The President will be meeting with leaders across the Middle East, including Saudi Arabia, who we told you he once called a “pariah state.” He’ll also be visiting Venezuela, another large producer of oil, despite current U.S. sanctions in place against the South American nation for human rights abuses and corruption. All in the name of trying to solve another problem Biden himself created, or at least allowed to spiral out of control.

Senator Ted Cruz joined us and shared what he thinks is the true reason behind the President’s upcoming trip at this volatile time:

Well, I assume he is going to grovel and beg the Saudis to produce more oil. And it’s because the White House has realized they’ve got a political problem. They’ve spent a year and a half attacking U.S. energy production. They spent a year and a half driving up gas prices, and suddenly they’ve discovered with an election coming up in November that people don’t like paying $5, $6, $7 a gallon for gas. And so the President is reduced to begging the Saudis. He’s also begging the Iranians and he’s begging the Venezuelans to produce more gas. He wants everyone to produce oil and gas on planet Earth, except for Americans producing American jobs.

My dad, ACLJ Chief Counsel Jay Sekulow, asked Sen. Cruz about the financial pain that so many Americans are feeling right now and if it feels like a flashback to the days of President Carter. The Senator did offer a sliver of hope:

There’s an old saying that history doesn’t repeat, but sometimes it rhymes. The parallels between Biden and Carter are staggering. You and I are both old enough to remember double-digit inflation, to remember rising unemployment, to remember gas lines going around the block, to remember our hostages languishing in Iran for 444 days while a weak and impotent President wrung his hands.

And the encouraging thing about that analogy is because on every front Biden is following the same pattern but doing it worse, and the encouraging thing is it took Jimmy Carter to give us Ronald Reagan. I think Joe Biden is setting up what is going to be a tidal wave victory for Republicans in November of ‘22, and I think he is setting up for a tidal wave victory for Republicans in ’24 as well.

Today’s full Sekulow broadcast includes even more in-depth analysis of President Biden’s upcoming trip in the face of the Palestinian Authority’s threat. We are also joined by Senator Marsha Blackburn to discuss the continual incompetence of the Biden Administration and how it’s hurting Americans at the pump, and beyond.
