The Left Scared About the State of the Union

President Joe Biden will deliver his State of the Union address tonight to convince American voters that he should be reelected in his upcoming campaign for the 2024 presidential election against President Donald Trump (who just said he would debate Biden “anytime, anywhere, anyplace”). Will he blame the Republicans in Congress for any perceived failures?

Also, Fox News reports on how Democrats are worried about President Biden’s speech:

Democrats are quietly expressing concerns about President Biden’s upcoming State of the Union speech on Thursday evening, with others remaining hopeful that the president will use the opportunity to beat worries and attacks over his age.

“We are all nervous,” one House Democrat told Axios, citing concerns about the 81-year-old Biden’s “ability to speak without blowing things.”

During an election year, the State of the Union is usually a political speech. There have often been theatrics, such as when former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi ripped up President Trump’s speech.

Tonight’s speech will be under a microscope since the election is just months away. The Biden Administration will want to present an image of President Biden as someone who is stronger than ever. I expect to see a well-structured, well-rehearsed speech.

If the President can avoid going off on tangents – when he’s prone to missteps – and sticks to the teleprompter, then we should see a figure who the mainstream media pundits will declare is clearly ready for a second term.

It’s also safe to say that even if the speech is mediocre at best, the media will praise it as excellent.

What will be President Biden’s talking points tonight? I expect to see a lot of talk about abortion, which has become a rallying cry for the Left since the overturning of Roe. I’m not expecting much focus on the border crisis – just a lot of breezing over the fact that illegal immigration is reaching astronomical numbers.

Also, people are hurting right now with the economy. Grocery prices and the cost of fast food have gotten out of control nationwide. For example, my good friend ACLJ Senior Counsel Andy Ekonomou is outraged at the higher prices and smaller portions of his beloved Filet-O-Fish at McDonald’s. All joking aside, sky-high inflation is hurting a lot of families.

I’m also keenly interested in watching the Republican response to the State of the Union. Senator Katie Britt (AL) – newly elected in 2023 – is on the list of possible VP candidates for President Trump. She should have a sharp response that could elevate her popularity even more.

Unfortunately, we received the alarming news during our broadcast that President Biden’s speech will announce constructing a military port on the shores of Gaza to provide aid. How will the Administration respond if the Houthis or Hamas attack our troops? We’ll have to respond and then find ourselves in another war.

ACLJ Senior Counsel and Director of Policy Harry Hutchison reacted to the disturbing news of Biden’s plan to put our troops in harm’s way:

The Biden Administration is infected by magical thinking. They believe that by stationing American troops and building a floating bridge, the U.S. can show the world its humanitarian chops. This is an open and obvious invitation for terrorism. It’s an open and obvious invitation for Hamas to strengthen itself against Israel.

This is the Biden Administration’s attempt to regain the radical Left’s support who have turned against the President for supporting Israel. This plan is a disaster because it will endanger our troops.

I believe the TV ratings for the President’s address will be strong. A huge turnout showed up on Super Tuesday, and people will start paying attention to the upcoming election starting tonight. Our show will provide a full breakdown of the speech tomorrow.

The ACLJ just also took on a new religious liberty case. At a public high school in Indiana, the track coach ordered student athletes not to gather in prayer before a track meet. We sent a legal demand letter to the school, reminding the school that the Constitution protects students’ religious liberty in a public school setting, and we’re now in the process of filing a lawsuit against the school for this egregious violation of the First Amendment.

We are awaiting a response from the school. If the school doesn’t change its tune, we will take legal action in federal court to protect the students’ First Amendment rights. It’s outrageous that such an attack is taking place in America in 2024.

We can’t defend students whose First Amendment rights have been violated without your generous support. We just launched our Life & Liberty Drive to fund our legal efforts. Give today – all donations are instantly doubled.

Today’s Sekulow broadcast included a full analysis of President Biden’s State of the Union tonight and how he will convince voters to give him a second term. The show also took a somber turn with the news of Biden’s ill-fated plan to put U.S. troops on the shores of Gaza.
