Left-Wing “Squad” Member Goes Down in Stunning, Double-Digit Defeat
Listen tothis article
Congressman Jamaal Bowman (NY-16), a member of the radical Left anti-Israel “Squad,” lost his reelection bid after only serving two terms. The 48-year-old, former middle school principal was obliterated by George Latimer, a prominent executive in Westchester County who has been involved in local and state politics for nearly 40 years. With 88% of the votes counted Wednesday morning, Latimer was leading Bowman by 16 points (58% to 42%).
Jamaal Bowman’s time in office was a flash in the pan. He began his congressional career in 2021 when he unseated pro-Israel stalwart Eliot Engel, who chaired the House Foreign Affairs Committee. In 2022, Bowman narrowly won his first reelection bid in the Democrat primary with just 54% of the vote in Westchester, so he’s never been a fan favorite.
Bowman’s loss comes down to the fact that he hates Israel. Days after Hamas’ October 7 attack, he threw his support behind the Palestinian cause and called for a ceasefire. He also had the audacity to argue that Hamas’ sexual atrocities against women that day were propaganda:
There was propaganda used in the beginning of the siege. . . . There’s still no evidence of beheaded babies or raped women. But they still keep using that lie [for] propaganda.
Reports confirming the sexual violence started surfacing days later. Bowman walked back his comments, but the writing was on the wall.
Bowman spent his very little time in office building an impressive anti-Israel highlight reel:
He was one of 37 Democrats to vote against sending Israel aid/funding.
In April 2023, Bowman voted against legislation to strengthen and expand the Abraham Accords on the 75th anniversary of Israel.
In 2023, Bowman signed a resolution calling for America to recognize the “Nakba,” which references the creation of the State of Israel in 1948 and the subsequent result of the 1948 war.
Bowman – and the “Squad” – boycotted Israeli President Isaac Herzog’s address to a joint session of Congress in 2023.
On the other hand, Latimer is staunchly pro-Israel. So much so, that a group called the United Democracy Project donated approximately $15 million to his campaign. The organization is composed of Democrats, Republicans, and Independents united in their support for our greatest ally, and they’re affiliated with the American Israel Public Affairs Committee. In short, Jamaal Bowman’s antisemitic rot ran so deep that his own party spent a historic amount of money to dump him.
Bowman’s bitterness was on full display as he raged about the donation in his concession speech:
We should not be well adjusted to a sick society. . . . We should be outraged. We should be outraged when a Super PAC of dark money can spend $20 million to brainwash people into believing something that isn’t true. We should be outraged about that.
“Dark money,” Jamaal? I guess it’s not so dark when you know the amount given and where it came from.
It’s great that Latimer supports Israel, but the champions of this election are the VOTERS. The people have spoken. They no longer want to be represented by extremists dripping with antisemitism and promoting violence against the Jewish people.
Finally, here’s a message to Bowman’s fellow “Squad” members (AOC, Rashida Tlaib, Ilhan Omar, and Ayanna Pressley): Consider yourselves put on notice.
