Elon Musk: Biden's New Boogeyman?

It’s Friday, and we’re still awaiting final results of Tuesday’s midterm elections. Votes are still being counted. Ballots are still being delivered. Some are saying it will be weeks before we know the final numbers.

So in the meantime, perhaps to draw your attention away from election matters, President Biden has decided to call out a new boogeyman to try to scare American voters. For years, for the radical Left, President Donald Trump was the thing that went bump in the night. It will likely be Florida’s Governor Ron DeSantis next, especially if he should decide to run for the White House. But now, President Biden is pointing his finger at a new bad guy to blame for your problems: Elon Musk.

During a press conference, President Biden was asked about the controversial CEO of companies like Tesla, SpaceX, and now Twitter, and whether there should be an investigation into his business dealings, and if he was a threat to national security. This was Biden’s disturbing response:

I think that Elon Musk’s cooperation and/or technical relationships with other countries is worthy of being looked at, whether or not he is doing anything inappropriate.

Let that sink in for a moment. The sitting President of the United States just endorsed investigating a man without any evidence of wrongdoing, but simply because he’s upsetting the radical Left. The Biden Administration wants to investigate a man, violating his constitutional rights, because they don’t like him? That is not how a constitutional republic works, Mr. Biden.

The Biden Administration and the radical Left are using the tools of government to try and intimidate and scare American citizens. What they’re really doing, whether they realize it or not, is just further dividing our country. I’m sure one could easily chalk it up to the President simply misspeaking or speaking off the cuff. Except the next day, Jake Sullivan, the White House National Security Advisor, doubled down on the investigation threat when he had plenty of time to redirect or walk back the President’s words. But he did not. And that probably tells us all we need to know.

ACLJ Senior Counsel for Global Affairs and former U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo offered what he said was his biggest takeaway from Tuesday’s election.

I think my biggest takeaway by far is what I saw for the fourteen months is that people are looking for serious leadership. They’re not looking for noise. They’re not looking for tweets. They’re looking for people with real solutions for things that matter in their life. You saw the candidates that did that, that didn’t just rail against the machine, they said here’s my idea, here’s my vision, here’s how we execute that, here’s how we implement it, how we make it work. Serious people who weren’t afraid to tell them hard truths about inflation or crime, or the things that are really impacting them. Those candidates tended to do far better than candidates that just sort of tried to ride the tide. That tide didn’t come in in the way that I’d hoped it would come in. And I think what this reminds us all is that this is a serious moment in American history and it requires serious leadership.

It’s true. We need serious leadership with demonstrable plans to right this ship. I’d love to see that type of leadership coming out of this White House. What we don’t need is anyone who just rants and raves and points the blame, but offers no solutions. And for an American President to be so hostile toward an American citizen – an immigrant who came to this country legally and chose to become a citizen – for disagreeing with his Administration is unacceptable. Period.
