Conservatives Demand Action After Report of “Lab Leak” From China

It’s probably the worst-kept secret of the last few years, but finally, the Biden Administration has been more or less forced to admit what we’ve all suspected since March 2020. A new report from the U.S. Department of Energy states that the cause of the release of COVID-19 was most likely a mishap, accidental or otherwise, that took place inside the infamous Wuhan lab. And the FBI has reported similar findings.

Senate Republicans demanded transparency and accountability in response to reports that the Energy Department concluded COVID-19 most likely originated from a Chinese lab leak.

The reports, published by the Wall Street Journal and New York Times on Sunday, revealed that new classified intelligence had prompted the department to join the FBI in concluding that the COVID-19 pandemic was caused by a lab leak in Wuhan, China. The department, which was previously undecided on the matter, had made the determination with “low confidence,” according to both reports.

Sen. Dan Sullivan (R-AK) called for “extensive” public hearings into COVID's origins in Congress during an appearance Sunday on NBC's Meet the Press, citing China's efforts to “shut people up” when first-world nations questioned how the pandemic began.

This should come as little surprise to most logical people. But I want you to cast your memory back to 2020 and 2021 and remember what happened to anyone who dared suggest that China’s story about wet markets and bats was just propaganda and that the virus came from a lab. These individuals were attacked, ostracized, or even deplatformed. You would have been called a conspiracy theorist, or worse, a racist, for suggesting such a commonsense theory. Some in the Left-wing mainstream media dismissed the Wuhan lab theories as mere Right-wing conspiracies that couldn’t be true.

There’s an old philosophical principle that the simplest answer is often the correct one. The Wuhan lab studies viral diseases. If a virus suddenly appeared here in America, would you look at a farmers market? No, you’d look for the closest viral laboratory. It just makes sense. And now Biden’s Department of Energy is admitting that’s most likely what happened. Whether it was intentionally nefarious or a true accident remains to be seen. And as long as the Chinese government continues to deny and cover, and the Biden Administration continues to bend its knee to the Chinese Communist Party, we’ll likely never know. And that means China will not be held accountable. At least not under this Administration.

Now we have our own government admitting in multiple reports that the COVID-19 virus was likely not spontaneously generated in an unregulated wet market, after it spent years trying to suppress that idea to mollify the Chinese government. The COVID-19 pandemic turned the entire world upside down, destroying countless lives in the process. There are many who need to be held accountable now, including President Xi Jinping and our own President Biden.
