The House Homeland Security Committee has scheduled a hearing on the radicalization of American Muslims Thursday.

Peter King,R-N.Y., the committee chairman, has received death threats for his plans to hold the hearing.

He told The Associated Press that radical Islam is a distinct threat that must be investigated regardless of whose sensibilities are offended.

Of the current situation, King said in an interview, ""You have a violent enemy from overseas which threatens us and which is recruiting people from a community living in our country. That's ... what this hearing's going to be." . . . .

. . . . conservative groups, like the American Center for Law and Justice, said the hearing will address an important national security threat.

"This hearing isn't about profiling -- it's about protecting our homeland," said ACLJ chief counsel Jay Sekulow.
