For years, former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi stood in the way of the potentially monumental Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act. But with pro-life Members of Congress now in control of the House of Representatives, there will finally be a vote this Wednesday on a lifesaving piece of legislation that would require doctors to do their job; and if a baby manages to survive an abortion procedure, they would have to administer care to keep that child alive and well.

Think about that – without such a law, there are states where legally, a doctor could allow a defenseless baby to die without administering lifesaving care.

Now imagine that there are actually some lawmakers who didn’t think such a protection was a good idea, let alone worth at the very least taking a vote. We’re not even talking about aborting a baby in the womb here – which is horrific enough – we’re talking about saving the life of a baby born alive.

It’s mind-boggling that people with such disdain for the sanctity of human life have been making decisions that affect all of our lives. Fortunately, with Rep. Pelosi no longer Speaker of the House, and pro-life leadership in charge, IT’S TIME TO VOTE.

According to the announcement:

Representative Ann Wagner (R-MO) announced the reintroduction of the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, with House Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-LA), and Representative Kat Cammack (R-FL) joining as original cosponsors. The Born-Alive Act ensures that infants born alive after an attempted abortion receive the same protection of law and degree of care as any newborn.

And now without Nancy Pelosi there to once again block it, a vote has been scheduled by House Leadership for January 11th. And not a moment too soon, as Planned Parenthood and the Left have taken the battle into the individual states, trying to enshrine abortion into state constitutions. And some states have even moved to legalize infanticide. As we’ve reported, we filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request against the State of California and Governor Gavin Newsom to expose a vile new law that could allow babies to die up to 28 days after they are born.

As we previously reported:

On September 27, 2022, Governor Newsom signed what amounts to a perinatal infanticide bill, AB 2223 (along with 12 other pro-abortion bills). As we’ve informed you, AB 2223 is especially egregious because it prevents coroners from investigating the deaths “related to or following known or suspected self-induced or criminal abortion,” including deaths of babies during the “perinatal” period – which is up to 28 days after birth. The bill also protects individuals from criminal or civil liability for the death of an infant during the perinatal period, if the death is “due to causes that occurred in utero.” As we have explained extensively, this new law may very well have the effect of decriminalizing infanticide.

Remember how we told you that this same Governor Newsom erected billboards across the country in an effort to have more pro-abortion Representatives elected, misquoting the words of Jesus Christ to promote ghoulish abortion laws. It’s sick.

The ACLJ has taken our fight to defend babies and uphold pro-life laws into the states as well, facing off against Planned Parenthood and the abortion-worshiping Left. We’re mobilized on Capitol Hill urging the passage of legislation that would protect all babies, especially those who are born alive. This bill would be MONUMENTAL. The radical Left may be able to sleep at night knowing innocent babies could literally be left to die, but we cannot.

House leadership has also scheduled a vote for Wednesday on a resolution condemning the string of targeted violent attacks by abortion terrorists like Jane's Revenge on pro-life Pregnancy Resource Centers around the country. We represent many of these pro-life centers and are urging both Congress and the FBI/DOJ to take decisive action to stop the attacks and hold those responsible accountable.

We will be monitoring these votes closely and will continue to keep you updated. Take action with us now.

01.11.2023 UPDATE: The House of Representatives passed H. Con. Res. 3 condemning the violent attacks on pro-life centers by a vote of 222 to 209. The House also passed H.R. 26, the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, by a vote of 220 to 210. Now the fight moves to the Senate.
