As we expected, the decision in Dobbs v. Jackson, which overturned Roe, has activated a flurry of abortion legislation movements in states all across the country. As my dad, ACLJ Chief Counsel Jay Sekulow, put it:

The decision in Dobbs was great because it took away the club of this made-up constitutional “right” to abortion. It opened up, then, the ability to return it to the states, which is what the law required. So when Roe was overturned, we always said it returns to the states, and now we’ve got real state challenges.

And as ACLJ Senior Counsel CeCe Heil added, every state challenge is different, and you can’t even trust that if you live in a traditionally conservative or pro-life state that your abortion laws reflect that same belief:

You will see things on ballot initiatives; you will see abortion come up this fall. You see legislative bills being voted on right now about abortion. And then you also see court cases. And you’re right, it might be a very conservative state but the court system might be liberal.

It’s good to celebrate our massive win for life at the Supreme Court, but the fight isn’t over. The next battles are already unfolding in courtrooms and state legislatures across the country. I can’t stress enough how important it is that you know exactly where your state stands on abortion, as well as what new bills might be on the table.

To that end, the ACLJ has created an interactive map at ACLJ.org that clarifies current abortion laws state-by-state to keep you informed of the laws in your home state as well as what actions are being taken by the pro-abortion lobby. It also tells you what you can do to help protect unborn babies in your state.

The radical Left is reeling after losing Roe. It is now setting its sights on anyone who is pro-life. We reported on Sen. Elizabeth Warren rallying for the shutdown of all pro-life crisis pregnancy centers. CeCe Heil talked about a ceremony at the University of Michigan where medical students reportedly walked out because the guest speaker was pro-life. And my dad referenced an article stating it’s no longer enough to be pro-choice, you must be anti-pro-life. These days there’s a lot of talk about cancel culture. If you’re pro-life, the Left is trying to cancel you. This is why we’re providing you with this interactive map, to arm yourself with information and take action.

ACLJ Senior Counsel for Global Affairs (and former U.S. Secretary of State as well as former Kansas Congressman) Mike Pompeo joined my dad and I to discuss a critical new pro-life initiative in his home state of Kansas. Our sister organization ACLJ Action has joined with Sec. Pompeo in campaigning in support of the Value Them Both amendment which will determine whether Kansas lawmakers have the authority to regulate abortion in their own state. The extreme abortion machine has gone into heavy spin mode to shoot down the amendment.

Sec. Pompeo set the record straight as to what Value Them Both will do:

This is really important. It’s five days from now it’s the election Tuesday of next week, August 2nd. I hope every Kansan will get out and vote for this amendment, vote YES on the Value Them Both amendment. There’s been so much money, and your point’s right – it’s so good that the ACLJ has been in there working to protect the unborn and protect these mothers as well – so much money dumped into the state with misinformation. All this amendment does is it says that Kansas courts that are liberal and Left have prevented the people from voting on the restrictions, the protection of the unborn, that they have wanted for an awfully long time. It just says people can vote. We can open up democracy to make sure that we don’t have abortion on demand in the state of Kansas if that’s what the people of Kansas want. It’s that simple. That’s what the amendment does. A lot of folks are saying “it’s going to ban this” and it does none of those things. It simply says we value both lives. And we want the people of Kansas, consistent with what the Supreme Court ruled a couple weeks back, we want the people of Kansas to have the opportunity to voice their views on protecting the unborn. It’s that simple. It’s that decent. It’s that basic.

The battle for life at the state level has begun, and Kansas is the first battleground. The whole country will be watching, and we are prepared to join the fight.

Today’s full Sekulow broadcast includes more information on the ACLJ’s initiatives to defend innocent babies in states all across America, and to defend pro-life pregnancy centers and pro-life workers and volunteers. As well as more discussion with Sec. Mike Pompeo about our fight for life as well as more analysis of Chinese threats to our national security.
