What California Governor Gavin Newsom just did is sick. Period.

We’ve repeatedly told you that the radical Left worships at the altar of abortion. Well, now Gruesome Newsom is paying to put up pro-abortion billboards in pro-life states around the country, promoting abortions in California.

You read that right, multiple states – states like Indiana, Mississippi, Ohio, Texas, Oklahoma, or any other state where the killing of an innocent unborn baby has been banned. Governor Newsom has taken it upon himself to be the ambassador of abortion in America, inviting others to come to California to have abortions.

The billboard literally says, “Need an Abortion? California is ready to help.” Newsom has also been tweeting graphics of the ad to the governors of these states as well, like a petulant child.

But while it’s obnoxious to post billboards in other states, he goes a step further into pure evil. The most depraved part is that the very same billboards quote and twist the words of Jesus Christ in order to promote the killing of unborn children in abortion:

“Love your neighbor as yourself. There is no greater commandment than these.” Mark 12:31

First of all, Governor Newsom cuts out the first part of “these” commandments, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.”

I find it hard to imagine someone who advocates for legally killing babies AFTER they’re born is loving God with all their heart, soul, and mind. And it certainly isn’t loving your neighbor. These babies are our neighbors. Yet Newsom is pushing hideous new extreme abortion bills. He is likely about to sign a law that could allow babies to be left to die up to 28 days AFTER birth, and he thinks he can co-opt the Word of God to justify it and pressure other states to enact the same depraved bills? With all due respect, Governor Newsom, how dare you? It’s disgusting. It’s Satanic.

I can’t help but wonder if Governor Newsom thought this would somehow trick more middle-of-the-road voters who see a Bible verse and think, “Oh, this must be good.” It’s not going to work. Governor Newsom’s attempt to pervert the Scriptures to sell his own ghoulish agenda is not only upsetting to Christians, it is a targeted slap in the face to people of faith. Imagine if he twisted the words of the Koran or any other religious text. It’s despicable.

Governor Newsom knew exactly what he was doing. He jumped at the chance to take a jab at Christians in order to solicit blood money donations from his radical, abortion-loving base.

This is where the radical Left is now. They respect all beliefs except Christian beliefs or any others that say killing babies is bad. That’s how desperate they are to retain all the power they can. They’re seemingly willing to forfeit their literal souls.

Personally, I can’t help but wonder if seeing a Bible verse, especially in those states, might actually convince a desperate young woman to NOT have an abortion. My dad, ACLJ Chief Counsel Jay Sekulow, concurred that it might, but it’s still terribly offensive to anyone who believes the Scriptures:

It probably backfires, but the fact they used it . . . that’s what’s unbelievable to me. Now interestingly in South Dakota, we just got word that on October 18th, we’re going to be arguing before the 8th Circuit Court of Appeals a pro-life piece of legislation that, after Dobbs, should be – I’m surprised we’re even having an argument – on informed consent. But you have to look at this and say this is the depths to which the pro-abortion industry – and I’m putting Gavin Newsom in that industry – will go to get their way and to get their message out. But adding the Bible verse to it does add a level of insult. It just does.

Clearly, Governor Newsom is using these ads to appeal to Left-leaning residents of these states, in preparation for a White House run, regardless of him begging off when asked in public. Believe me, if there is a Newsom ticket in 2024, we will remember this day, and we will remind the entire country as well. This mockery, not only of God, but of the sanctity of the life He’s given to us all, isn’t likely to go over well.

That’s why the critical pro-life work of the ACLJ must continue. We have a biblical mandate to save precious unborn babies. And we’re not just talking about these evil ads, we’re taking legal action. In one of the states Newsom is targeting, Oklahoma, our motion to be allowed to file an amicus brief in support of that state’s abortion ban was just granted by the OK Supreme Court. Our deadline to file that brief is October 3rd, the first of eight such briefs in state supreme courts. We stand ready, willing, and able to combat Newsom’s evil agenda state by state to defend life.

Today’s full Sekulow broadcast includes more in-depth analysis of this political gameplay by Governor Newsom, as well as updates on our critical pro-life legal work to defeat barbaric abortion laws and uphold laws that save babies’ lives in the wake of Roe.
