Lifenews.com - Massachusetts pro-life advocates are working to restore protections for babies who survive abortions after state lawmakers repealed a law last year that protected newborns from infanticide.

Patricia Stewart of Massachusetts Citizens for Life told One News Now that they plan to begin a petition in the fall that would allow voters to restore the life-saving protections.

“We have engaged in an initiative to send around a petition in the fall to change that law back to one that would mandate life-saving care for every child born alive in Massachusetts,” Stewart said.

The Massachusetts legislature stripped away protections for newborns who survive abortions when they passed a radical pro-abortion bill over the Christmas holiday in 2020. Along with eliminating basically all regulations and restrictions on abortion in Massachusetts, the law got rid of a requirement that babies who are born alive after a botched abortion be provided basic medical care, according to Massachusetts Citizens for Life.
