President Biden issued a new Executive Order on July 8, 2022, focused on “Protecting Access to Reproductive Healthcare Services.”  The goal is to “expand access to abortion care, including medication abortion.” As you can imagine, the Administration, as well as all pro-abortion advocates, are scrambling to make sure that abortion continues to thrive in the United States. They are not willing to allow states to make their own decisions about protecting life; they are determined to force abortion on everyone.

While this effort is taking place from the highest office in the United States in response to the recent Dobbs decision that there is no constitutional right to abortion, it's very interesting to note that there is no international right to abortion either. Although pro-abortionists would have you believe that abortion rights are the norm around the world, in reality, they are not. A majority of the world has strict limitations on abortion. Out of the 193 U.N. Member States, a majority limit abortion outright or allow just for the life/health of the mother; then when you add in gestational limits, over 86% limit abortion before 12 weeks. Despite what the pro-abortionists would have you think, abortion is NOT the norm.

Of course, no pro-abortion action would be complete without a concerted attack against pro-life pregnancy resource centers (PRCs, aka pro-life pregnancy centers and crisis pregnancy centers, or CPCs), and Biden’s EO does not disappoint. Section 4(b)(iv) states:

The Secretary of Health and Human Services shall, in consultation with the Attorney General and the Chair of the FTC, consider options to address deceptive or fraudulent practices related to reproductive healthcare services, including online, and to protect access to accurate information.

We have defended PRCs for decades and understand that this is the exact language that is always used to come after them.

Meanwhile, these pro-life pregnancy centers are being firebombed and vandalized across the nation without any condemnation whatsoever from President Biden. Centers that provide compassionate, comprehensive, and completely free services and support to pregnant women are the enemy of the abortion industry. Why?  Because an overwhelming majority of pregnant women choose to keep their baby once they see an ultrasound and come face to face with the precious life inside them.

PRCs also provide the support, encouragement, and options that many pregnant women, who might be considering abortion, feel they don’t have. So, once again, why are they so dangerous to the pro-abortion crowd? They actually provide truthful, accurate information to pregnant women, and President Biden certainly can’t have that! So, the plan is to paint them as deceptive and fraudulent.

You see the same attack from liberal Congressmen and Attorneys General who have gone after Google to make sure PRCs don’t come up in a search for “abortion.”  The letter sent to Google used the same deceptive, fraudulent language, calling PRCs “fake clinics.”

You see the same attack from New York trying to investigate whether PRCs limit access to abortion, using again, the same – protecting access to accurate information – language. Now Senator Elizabeth Warren has come right out and publicly stated, “We need to shut [crisis pregnancy centers] down here in Massachusetts and we need to shut them down all around the country.” It’s beyond obvious that the pro-abortion troops are rallying, as they have lost a huge battle and are desperate to keep their big business of abortion rolling in the green.

However, I can tell you that the ACLJ is rallying as well to make sure life is protected around the globe. President Biden gave the Secretary of Health and Human Services 30 days to submit a report to him, identifying potential actions expanding abortion . . . and addressing deceptive practices related to abortion.  We will be watching for this report, but in the meantime, you can be sure that we will be sending a letter to Sec. Becerra – who we warned you would be the most pro-abortion HHS Secretary we’ve ever had – reminding him that we have taken him to the United States Supreme Court protecting PRCs before and won and won’t hesitate to do it again.  Additionally, we are assisting the PRCs who have been recently attacked; and we’ll be watching New York to make sure PRCs are protected there as well, all while we are submitting reports to the U.N. addressing any and all abortion issues in countries around the world.
