Biden’s Attempt to Overturn Pro-Life State Abortion Ban

Idaho v. United States
Biden’s Attempt to Overturn Pro-Life State Abortion Ban
STATUS:
At U.S. Supreme Court

The American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ) filed an amicus brief defending Idaho’s new law banning abortion. It’s now at the Supreme Court. Idaho’s pro-life law provides that “[e]very person who performs or attempts to perform an abortion . . . commits the crime of criminal abortion.” The law imposes penalties of two to five years’ imprisonment and license suspension for medical professionals who perform or assist in performing an abortion. The law includes exceptions for rape, incest, and when the life of the mother is in danger. It’s a bill that would save countless unborn lives. Even after the Supreme Court returned the issue of abortion to the states in Dobbs, President Biden rushed to challenge this crucial pro-life state law. Now the issue is once again before the Supreme Court, and we will be filing yet another amicus brief in the case.
