Along with the new Congress is a new legislative push to undo many of the protections afforded to safeguarding human life.  As weve reported before, President Obama strongly supports legislation that would turn back the gains made in protecting life and aggressively promote abortion.

Were talking about the Freedom of Choice Act - legislation that is expected to be introduced in both the House and Senate soon.  Our legal team is already preparing to go to court when this measure is approved in an effort to keep it from being implemented and to challenge the constitutionality of this pro-abortion measure.

You can read more about the dangers of the Freedom of Choice Act in a legal memo we have produced.

In this troubling climate on Capitol Hill, there is some encouraging news.  In the House, Congressman Heath Shuler (D-NC) and Congressman Jim Jordan (R-OH) have teamed up to write a bipartisan letter to the House Leadership, the Appropriations Committee and the Rules Committee asking that all of the existing pro-life riders be retained.  Nearly 100 Members have already signed this letter.

This is a critically important effort and I applaud Congressman Shuler and Congressman Jordan for their bipartisan leadership on behalf of life.

We know how difficult it will be to protect human life in this 111th Congress.  That is why it is so important for pro-life lawmakers, Democrats and Republicans alike, to work together on this issue.  I encourage you to contact your Congressional representative and ask them to sign on to the Shuler/Jordan letter.
