An Austin, Texas, bus driver who was fired for refusing to transport clients to an abortion center has settled a lawsuit against his former employer.

When two women asked to be taken to a Planned Parenthood clinic last year, Edwin Graning contacted his supervisor at a transit company known as Capital Area Rural Transportation System (CARTS) to tell him that as a Christian and pastor, he could not transport someone to have an abortion.

"Federal law requires that employers accommodate the religious beliefs of their employees, unless doing so would impose an undue hardship on the business," reports American Center for Law & Justice (ACLJ) attorney Geoff Surtees. "Well, as we alleged in our complaint, CARTS didn't event attempt...to accommodate Ed Granings' religious beliefs regarding his refusal to drive someone for an abortion.". . .
