On Wednesday, a three-judge panel of the Eighth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ordered a hold on the Health and Human Services mandate that requires employers to provide health insurance that covers contraceptives, sterilization, and abortion-inducing drugs. O'Brien Industrial Holdings, based in St. Louis and represented by the American Center for Law & Justice (ACLJ), claims the mandate violates constitutionally protected religious beliefs.

ACLJ calls the Eighth Circuit's ruling "a significant victory" for its client.

"The order sends a message that the religious beliefs of employers must be respected by the government," says ACLJ senior counsel Francis Manion. "We have argued from the beginning that employers like [business owner] Frank O'Brien must be able to operate their business in a manner consistent with their moral values, not the values of the government.". . .
