Jack Smith Brings Unseen Evidence in Superseding Indictment Against Trump
Listen tothis article
With less than six weeks until the presidential election, Special Counsel Jack Smith filed unseen evidence in his superseding indictment against former President Donald Trump. A federal court has already declared that Smith was unconstitutionally appointed by the Biden-Harris Department of Justice. And the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in July that presidents are entitled to immunity from criminal prosecution for official acts performed while in office.
Now, Jack Smith is trying to work around the July Supreme Court ruling. What is most disturbing is we are only 39 days from the election. Trump’s defense team has 14 days to respond to this filing. Then the prosecution could take up to seven days to respond, leading us right up to October 17. So even if the judge ruled immediately, we’d be about 19 days before the election.
Why does Jack Smith get this opportunity to potentially expose evidence before court? He is starting over, not to go to court before the election, but in hopes that the judge will allow the release of a redacted version of the evidence before the election. And the big question is, how much of this nearly 200-page filing will the judge release before the election?
Acting Director of National Intelligence Ric Grenell joined us to discuss the timing of this politically motivated filing:
The United States of America should not be in a situation where the weaponization of the courts and the legal system against your political opponents is allowed. Kamala Harris must speak out. She’s not going to say anything though, because she actually really likes it. . .courts are doing the dirty work here, but it is a low point for America.
[W]hen you’re faced with the weaponization of your government against political opponents when you’re watching in real time, people trying to destroy our country and our liberties. I think it’s time that you get really involved. You should get mad. You should get really focused on the election.
Jack Smith is not the only one going after President Trump. The Department of Justice has just unsealed the indictment against Iranian hackers for hacking the Trump campaign and leaking information to the Harris campaign. Iran knows what another Trump Administration means.
ACLJ Senior Counsel for Global Affairs Mike Pompeo commented on what’s at stake for Iran:
If you’re the commander of the IRGC or you’re part of the security establishment, you know that you will have the money that you need, the resources and wealth that you need to continue to perform global terror operations all across the world. If Vice President Harris becomes President of the United States and your evidence for that is eight years of Obama and four years of President Biden and Kamala Harris, contrasted with the four years of the Trump Administration.
Back in 2019, under the Trump Administration, the New York Times reported “‘The golden days are gone and will never return,’ said a fighter with an Iranian-backed militia in Syria who recently lost a third of his salary and other benefits. ‘Iran doesn’t have enough money to give us.’”
But the Biden-Harris Administration gave billions to Iran. They have failed to put pressure on Iran and now it poses a threat to our current candidates. If the Biden-Harris Administration had followed the Abraham Accords and the policies of Donald Trump, we wouldn't be in these two massive escalating wars in Europe and in the Middle East.
Because of the failed foreign policy of the Biden-Harris Administration, our ally Israel continues to suffer. That is why we’ve launched a multi-national legal advocacy campaign in defense of Israel: in the U.S., at the U.N., and with world leaders. The ACLJ will never stop fighting for the integrity of our justice system at home and standing with our ally abroad.
Today’s Sekulow broadcast included the developing political prosecution, Prime Minister Netanyahu’s address to the U.N. General Assembly, the ACLJ’s legal work – and much more.
