He was “the top diplomat involved in talks with Tehran.” Before he was the Special Envoy for Iran, Robert Malley helped to negotiate the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (Iran Deal) and was the Middle East coordinator for the Obama Administration. Although the Department of State has placed Malley on leave, the Biden Administration continues to attempt a revival of the previously canceled Iran Deal.
