Massive Fight to Protect Kids Online
Parents have been demanding something simple from Big Tech: Give parents more control over what their children do online. Now Meta has reached an agreement with 52 state and territorial attorneys general that hopefully puts meaningful new protections in place for teenagers on Facebook and Instagram. Many see this as a significant step forward. Meta is now calling on TikTok, YouTube, and other platforms to adopt similar protections – arguing that protecting kids shouldn’t depend on which app they use. ACLJ Action supports tech companies working, including within the framework of this settlement, to put authority back where it belongs: with parents.
