White House “Fuming” as Netanyahu Is Set To Address Congress
Listen tothis article
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is scheduled to address a joint session of Congress on July 24. However, many on the far Left, such as Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (NY-14), are protesting the upcoming speech. She even called the Prime Minister a “war criminal” for Israel’s ongoing defense against Hamas.
Also, the White House just canceled meetings tomorrow with Israel, “fuming” over the Prime Minister’s recent video in which he criticized the U.S. for withholding weapons shipments. Netanyahu is worried about Iran’s growing threat, and concerns about a possible full-fledged war with Iran-backed Hezbollah is what prompted his plea for America to give Israel the weapons “to finish the job.” In canceling the meeting, the Administration is clearly not taking the Iranian threat very seriously.
In the past, America’s leaders usually had widespread support for the State of Israel. You would see applause from both sides of the political aisle for America’s greatest ally. However, we are living in different times as division over Israeli support is fracturing the Democrat Party.
And it’s not just a handful of far-Left radicals who are anti-Israel. Former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi just spoke out and said Congress’ invitation – spearheaded by current Speaker of the House Mike Johnson, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries – to have Netanyahu address Congress was “wrong.”
We are still more than a month away from the scheduled address. However, with so much vocal opposition to Netanyahu’s speech, I wonder how long it will take for Members like Sen. Schumer and Rep. Jeffries to rescind their invitation.
Addressing a joint session of Congress is a key moment for Prime Minister Netanyahu – giving Israel the biggest stage in the U.S. to ask for American aid in its war against Hamas. Israel will be addressing not just Congress but every American citizen.
If the speech still takes place, it will be interesting to see who shows up for the joint session of Congress. I suspect that it will be a full room, and even Members of Congress who are vocally condemning Israel will attend. Remember, they must thread the needle of appeasing their anti-Israel base while at the same time not upsetting moderate voters who support Israel.
With the rising antisemitism we’ve seen in the country, I hope Netanyahu’s address becomes a time for Americans who support Israel to rally together and voice support for our greatest ally.
We have an update in our case to defend students’ and parents’ rights. We are assisting two parents in their fight against a Nevada public school district that forced their child to perform a pornographic monologue in class. When the mother attempted to read the same monologue before the school board, her mic was cut off.
We secured an initial victory in federal court when the Las Vegas school district tried to have our case dismissed. Our legal team has been in Nevada conducting depositions (interviewing witnesses on the record) for the upcoming trial, which will likely take place in 2025.
We are shocked to see just how prevalent the sexualization of students has been in the Nevada school system and plan to investigate further. The school administrators said the students talk explicitly all the time, so they didn’t see anything wrong with the pornographic monologue.
However, we can’t stand for students to have their religious consciences infringed upon. And we are fighting for the rights of parents to still have a say in their kids’ education. We will keep you posted on further developments.
Today’s Sekulow broadcast included a full analysis of the vocal opposition to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s address to Congress and the White House canceling meetings with Israel.
