Axios dropped the bombshell that Secretary of State Antony Blinken has requested that the State Department consider options for the U.S. to recognize “Palestine” as a state. Will the Biden Administration unwisely push for a two-state solution for Israel and “Palestine”?

Here’s the stunning news as reported by Axios:

Secretary of State Tony Blinken asked the State Department to conduct a review and present policy options on possible U.S. and international recognition of a Palestinian state after the war in Gaza, two U.S. officials briefed on the issue told Axios.

Why it matters: While U.S. officials say there has been no policy change, the fact the State Department is even considering such options signals a shift in thinking within the Biden administration on possible Palestinian statehood recognition, which is highly sensitive both internationally and domestically.

  • For decades, U.S. policy has been to oppose the recognition of Palestine as a state both bilaterally and in UN institutions and to stress Palestinian statehood should only be achieved through direct negotiations between Israel and the Palestinian Authority.

That’s right, folks. Just months after the horrific attacks on October 7 that resulted in 1,400 dead Israelis and more than 240 hostages, the Biden Administration is considering rewarding Israel’s enemies.

Right now, the Administration is also dealing with the Houthis attacks (over which the ACLJ filed a FOIA lawsuit) and the Iranian-backed drone strike that killed three U.S. soldiers and injured more than 30 others. Despite these other pressing issues of national security, the Administration is taking the time to consider recognizing “Palestine” as a state.

So how will this proposed Palestinian state come about? Will it be formed at the United Nations? Will it form amid pressure from the U.S. and U.K.?

And who will inhabit this Palestinian state? Will it be composed of the remnants of Hamas leadership after Israel finishes eradicating most of the group’s terrorists? Maybe it’ll be led by Mahmoud Abbas, the 88-year-old autocrat Chairman of the Palestinian Authority (to which the Biden Administration sends money for its pay-for-slay program).

Secretary Blinken’s inexplicable move is a slap in the face to Israel. It would be catastrophic for the Biden Administration to betray Israel and recognize a state of “Palestine.”

Statehood should only come from a negotiated treaty between Israel and the Palestinians. As our video “The Myth of Palestine” shows, Israel has tried to negotiate a two-state solution with the Palestinians in the past, only to continue being attacked in the process.

The U.S., the U.K., and other foreign nations should not be involved in such a decision. Doing so would only put Israel at further risk. Read here for debunked myths about Israel and “Palestine” and why Israel is not the aggressor in the Middle East.

Senior Counsel for International and Government Affairs Jeff Ballabon explained the folly of recognizing “Palestine” as a state.

The notion of America unilaterally overriding the sovereign State of Israel and declaring that it’s going to consider recognizing a terror organization as a state is outrageous. It will destroy stability in the Middle East. It will destroy the Jewish State and will absolutely create – I believe – World War III. It will completely destabilize the region. It puts Iran in control, and all bets are off at that point.

America – and the world – can’t risk World War III taking place. The ACLJ will stand ready to defend Israel and shine a light on the Biden Administration’s disastrous foreign policies that threaten stability in the Middle East.

I also want to give a quick update on the ACLJ’s case at the U.S. Supreme Court to defend your right to vote for the candidate of your choice. We will file our next brief by Monday, and oral argument will take place shortly thereafter. This is the biggest case in the ACLJ’s history, and the Justices’ decision could affect voting rights for generations to come.

We are launching a special Matching Moment to fund our vital fight at the U.S. Supreme Court. Any gift you donate will be doubled. Please give today to help us preserve election integrity.

Today’s Sekulow broadcast provided a full analysis of the Biden Administration’s absurd announcement that it is considering recognizing the statehood of “Palestine.” We gave an update on the PRAISE (Protecting Religious Assembly in States of Emergency) act being passed in Georgia, for which the ACLJ provided testimony.
