According to a U.S. attorney, an Iranian pastor who has been jailed 862 days could be in imminent danger for steadfastly refusing to recant his Christian faith. . . .

The case of Pastor Youcef Nadarkhani made it through the court system and was then handed to Iran's religious leader for a decision. Prison authorities have tried to pressure Nadarkhani to convert to the Muslim faith, but because he refuses to do so, he faces the death penalty (see earlier story). Jordan Sekulow of the American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ) is supporting Rep. Joseph Pitts (R-Pennsylvania) and others for their congressional resolution that condemns Iran's persecution of the pastor and calls for his immediate release. . . .

"This is another time where we need to act now because we can't promise anyone that when we wake up tomorrow, or that we'll find out next week that it happened yesterday, or that it happened today. But we do everything we can while we know that he was alive as of today and that we know things are very serious," Sekulow contends. "And we know that because of our Iranian connection working with the attorneys and the legal team for [Nadarkhani] on the ground.". . .
