School Board Officially Recognizes the National Motto

Recently, a School Board member from a local School District in Southern California contacted the ACLJ, seeking information regarding the constitutionality of displaying our national motto, In God We Trust, in the School Boards Board Room.

The School Board desired to take official action to encourage patriotism and unity in the school district by displaying a plaque or artwork with the national motto of the United States, see 36 U.S.C.302, In God We Trust.  Upon request, we provided an information letter explaining the legal support for such a display.  Of course, displaying our national motto is perfectly within the bounds of the Constitution!  With our informational letter in hand, the Board Resolution passed unanimously!  The Board very much appreciated the informational resources we provided.  One School Board member is now sharing our informational letter with other school districts so that they may take similar action to encourage patriotism.
