Most of us remember seeing black-and-white images of America in a bygone era when children were put to work in dangerous factories and mills. But now we’re seeing it again, in full, alarming color, as thousands of migrant children who crossed the border are being put to work in facilities that are dangerous even for skilled adults. And what’s worse, the Biden Administration has essentially facilitated it. It’s repulsive.

As the New York Times reports:

Over the past two years, more than 250,000 migrant children have come alone to the United States. Thousands of children have ended up in punishing jobs across the country — working overnight in slaughterhouses, replacing roofs, operating machinery in factories — all in violation of child labor laws, a recent Times investigation showed. After the article’s publication in February, the White House announced policy changes and a crackdown on companies that hire children.

But all along, there were signs of the explosive growth of this labor force and warnings that the Biden administration ignored or missed, The Times has found.

Like lambs to the slaughterhouse, migrant children are being handed over to so-called “sponsors” by the Biden Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), where they are put to work in construction, sanitation, factories, and meat-packing plants. Slaughterhouse jobs alone often result in injury, amputations, and even death for adults. And that’s not even addressing the psychological damage these environments can cause.

This is cruel, criminal behavior that needs to be exposed and punished. But the Biden Administration has done nothing except broker these kids off to vile “sponsors” who want to earn off their backs.

As the Times report continues, when confronted about these children – literally young kids – being exploited as labor, HHS simply passed the buck, stating:

H.H.S. officials said the department vetted sponsors sufficiently but could not control what happened to children after they were released. Monitoring workplaces, they said, was the job of the Department of Labor.

Even President Biden’s team was reportedly made aware of the issue and did nothing:

And White House officials said that while the two departments had passed along information about migrant child labor, the reports were not flagged as urgent and did not make clear the scope of the problem.

Thankfully, an HHS whistleblower has come forward, stating she thought she was finding safe homes for migrant children and instead learned who they were really working with: criminals and human traffickers who were going to force these children to toil away in hazardous environments.

When called before Congress to answer for these atrocities, Sec. Alejandro Mayorkas stuck to the Biden playbook of dodge and deny – even after Sen. Josh Hawley revealed a chart that demonstrated what he rightly called a “huge surge” in migrant child labor that coincided with President Biden taking office.

The Biden Administration, whether intentionally or not, has essentially facilitated the transfers of thousands of innocent children from shelters into the hands of sick opportunists. The Biden Administration essentially has signed off on using defenseless, bewildered children to be forced into indentured servitude, if not literal slavery, and when called out on the carpet, it has continued to lie about, or worse, inexplicably blame the prior administration. The numbers don’t lie – things got drastically worse for these migrant kids the day Joe Biden stepped into the Oval Office.

It must be brought to light, and everyone involved must be held accountable, even if the trail leads all the way to the President himself. Children must feel safe in America. They must be protected. But let’s be honest with ourselves – how can we expect an Administration that wants to kill as many babies as possible – to appease the abortion overlords who fund their campaigns – to value these innocent children’s lives?

Today’s full Sekulow broadcast includes more analysis of the whistleblower’s claims as well as the New York Times report and how the Biden Administration continues to refuse its own complicities in the unconscionable behavior. We’re also joined by ACLJ Senior Counsel for Global Affairs and former U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.
