As violent anti-ICE riots consumed Los Angeles, federal officers were attacked, fires raged, and reports emerged that local police were told to stand down for hours. The ACLJ has filed California Public Records Act (CPRA) requests with both Governor Gavin Newsom and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass demanding all records and communications directing or delaying law enforcement response to the riots. We’re seeking the truth about whether state and local officials abandoned their duty to uphold law and order – and why federal officers were left vulnerable to violent mobs.
