Over 900 Pounds of Fentanyl Seized in a Week! Is DHS Waking Up?

Finally, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) seems to be waking up to the deadly assault being unleashed right now on American soil. We’ve been sounding the alarm for years, and finally, the Biden DHS is taking action.

In its very first week, a new DHS program called Operation Blue Lotus apprehended over 900 pounds of deadly fentanyl at the southern border. It’s a good start, but we’re not patting the Biden Administration on the back just yet.

As DHS announced:

Today, DHS announced that Operation Blue Lotus, a new coordinated and surge operation targeting the smuggling of fentanyl, stopped more than 900 pounds of fentanyl from coming into the United States in its first week. . . .

[The operation] includes an increase in targeted inspections conducted by CBP Officers and HSI Agents, canine units, and advanced technology at locations along the border. Intelligence gained through Operation Blue Lotus will enhance the targeting of drug traffickers at the border. It is designed to help continue to build criminal cases against the transnational criminal organizations behind the networks and facilitators dealing in this deadly substance.

And as the statement points out, while fentanyl is perhaps the deadliest drug ever to enter the United States, that’s not all that’s coming across the border:

Since its launch on March 13, 2023, Operation Blue Lotus has led to 18 seizures, 16 federal arrests, and two state arrests. Those seizures prevented over 900 pounds of fentanyl, over 700 pounds of methamphetamines, and over 100 pounds of cocaine from entering the United States through Sunday, March 19.

We give credit where credit is due. Blue Lotus is a good start, as 900lbs of fentanyl could kill thousands of Americans. That might as well be a missile. And add to that 700lbs of meth and 100lbs of cocaine (both of which are often laced with fentanyl as well), and we’ve got a grave problem on our hands.

We all know the only solution that will actually stem the flow of these deadly drugs, as well as human traffickers and known terrorists, from coming into the U.S. is – a WALL. It’s not a perfect solution, but a wall would be considerably more effective than any federal program.

But at least the Biden Administration seems to be catching up, so there’s hope. But it begs the question, what took so long?

Last year, Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agents seized enough deadly fentanyl to KILL EVERY AMERICAN. Wasn’t that a wake-up call? Was the Biden Administration just trying to defend its utterly disastrous failed immigration policies – policies primarily of inaction that helped create this crisis – and now it just can’t pretend the problem doesn’t exist?

Mr. President, this is not a political issue. Fentanyl doesn’t care who anyone voted for or what color state they live in – it kills indiscriminately.

This is an intentional, cunningly crafted terrorist attack on the United States. These pills are chemical weapons. Fentanyl is killing more Americans than any terror attack we’ve ever suffered. Imagine multiple 9/11 attacks, every month. Operation Blue Lotus may help to keep some of this evil substance out of our country, but it doesn’t address the real threat – the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).

Fentanyl may enter the U.S. through the Mexican border, but don’t be fooled. It’s being created in China and shipped to the Cartels for delivery. The same Communist regime that was just flying spy balloons over America – the same country that the federal government is finally admitting likely created COVID-19 in a lab and allowed it to be unleashed on the planet – is manufacturing fentanyl and shipping it to America to kill our kids. They must be held accountable. But the Biden Administration continues to tuck its tail between its legs before President Xi and the CCP. How many more young Americans will have to die before this Administration finally stands up to China?
