FBI Leaked Top-Secret Info to the Washington Post?
The saga of the Special Master continues . . .
This time, the FBI has been accused of leaking details about top-secret files that it seized in the unprecedented raid on President Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago home.
As we told you yesterday, on Labor Day a federal judge ruled in favor of appointing a Special Master to review the documents seized in the FBI raid.
Not surprisingly, the liberal mainstream media took it as a signal to jump all over their favorite branch of the government to attack lately if it doesn’t rule in favor of the Leftist agenda, the judicial branch.
Listen, this is America. You can criticize any branch of government you want. That’s the beauty of our free constitutional republic. No one should be made an enemy of the state for criticizing the government. But when conservatives do it, it’s an attack on democracy and must be squashed.
When the Left does it . . . oh well.
And now, it appears in some form of retaliation, someone – most likely within the Biden Justice Department or FBI – leaked the contents of the seized documents, some of which are supposed to be protected by attorney-client privilege, to the Washington Post.
The truth of the matter is they know this judge’s opinion was the correct opinion in the eyes of the law. The FBI completely botched the handling of the documents. There were glaring mistakes made in this raid. And now the Left is using the media to distract and deflect from that fact by essentially trying to discredit the judge.
My dad, ACLJ Chief Counsel Jay Sekulow, offered the very real explanation that this is just another calculated smokescreen to distract the American people from the current and upcoming disasters that the Biden Administration has no plan to handle:
You realize what’s going on here right? They want this. The truth of the matter is they want the kerfuffle right now. Because it distracts you from all the other messes that we’re having to deal with globally and domestically.
And think about this: in what other active criminal investigation do the investigators ever share what they’ve found with the media? It happens, I suppose, but it’s very rare. Many times they won’t even tell the public who they’re investigating. This is clearly just more political gameplay from bad actors on the Left.
As my dad also pointed out, this is the same problematic strategy the Left has employed time and time again:
Now I want to ask this question: where is the Inspector General of the Department of Justice determining who leaked information that was at the highest levels of classifications? Even if they didn’t say here’s the document like James Comey did. Oh, that’s right, James Comey didn’t do that. What he did is he gave it to a friend of his who leaked it to the newspaper. They play this same playbook every time – and they lose every time. It’s like here we go again, same issue, same time. And they bring this breaking news last night at 9 o’clock, and what happens after they make this breaking news. Here’s what happens, people like us starting saying if this was so Top Secret, if this was so secure and only a few people in the government could have it, how did it end up where an agent or a DOJ employee could say, hey by the way Washington Post, here’s what we got? Think about that for a minute, it was so important that people saw it that did not have that level of clearance?
ACLJ Senior Advisor for National Security and Foreign Policy Ric Grenell served as the former Acting Director of National Security (DNI) under President Trump and knows something about the way classified and protected documents are supposed to be handled, even by the DOJ.
Ric joined us on the broadcast and gave his analysis, and called out the Washington Post for its role in pushing anonymous disinformation as well:
A couple of points, one: they’re leaking a document which they’re criticizing President Trump for because it was too sensitive. So it’s too sensitive for President Trump to have, but they’re going to leak it to the Washington Post? It doesn’t make sense. The second point is, of course we’ve got that same Anonymous person, someone close to the situation is how they describe him. You know we don’t know who this person is. We don’t know this Anonymous person. We don’t know their motives.
But what we do know is that Anonymous has been so wrong with the Washington Post for so long. Remember they’re the ones who said Donald Trump was a Russian agent. They’re the ones who said that the FISA warrant was legitimate. They’re the ones who said Hunter Biden’s laptop was Russian disinformation. And they’re the ones who told us that Kim Jong Un was braindead. So this Anonymous person who keeps leaking to the Washington Post is really playing the Washington Post. They need to have more scrutiny. And the editors at the Washington Post should be ashamed of themselves how they keep pushing anonymous intel which over and over again proves to be wrong.
As Ric also said, as a nation we’ve created a system that relies on transparency and double-checking and scrutiny are good things – even helpful things to keep us honest and working in service of the people. That’s a good thing. At least it should be, if your motives are honorable. But the Left, with its loyal media, seems intent on shutting down any checks and balances. We are watching these developments closely to keep you informed, as well as to be prepared, should we need to get involved.
Today’s full Sekulow broadcast includes more discussion of this latest anonymous leak to the press, including further discussion with ACLJ Senior Advisor for National Security and Foreign Policy Ric Grenell, who also weighed in on a developing energy crisis in Europe that is likely headed this way, and just in time for the holidays. Strangely, nobody here at home is even talking about this potentially imminent disaster.
