BREAKING: Trump Addresses John Bolton FBI Raid
Listen tothis article
“No one is above the law… @FBI agents on mission.”
That was FBI Director Kash Patel earlier this morning on X, right around the time the FBI conducted a raid on the home and office of former National Security Advisor John Bolton. This move was part of a larger national security investigation, according to reports.
As reported by Fox News:
FBI agents raided the Maryland home of former National Security Advisor John Bolton on Friday morning, Fox News Digital has learned.
Fox News Digital later spotted agents at Bolton's Washington, D.C. office removing boxes, and Bolton was seen in the lobby of the building.
The searches are focused on potential classified documents agents believe Bolton may still possess, according to one source.
Bolton, who served as President Donald Trump’s national security advisor from 2018 to 2019, is not in custody or under arrest. Trump said he was not aware of the raid ahead of time and said he found out about it on the news.
Attorney General Pam Bondi piggy backed on Patel’s post, stating: “America's safety isn't negotiable. Justice will be pursued. Always.”
So the question remains, what were they looking for? All we knew at the time we went on air is that around about 7 A.M. EST, both John Bolton's home and his office were raided by FBI agents, with a warrant signed by a judge.
Of course, critics of the President are ironically calling the move retaliatory, despite President Trump stating he didn’t know it was happening.
The FBI believed they had probable cause in what they are calling a national security investigation into leaks that happened during the first Trump Administration. Leaks that likely contributed to an impeachment. Leaks that led to a special counsel at the taxpayers’ expense. The DOJ went to a judge who signed off on the search warrants.
We know John Bolton played a role in the first impeachment. In fact, he used the impeachment to tease his new book
And during the impeachment trial, Bolton said he would not voluntarily testify, and he would have to be subpoenaed. Ultimately, he was not subpoenaed, but he certainly garnered plenty of attention for his new book detailing his years of access to the White House. In fact, the Justice Department initiated an investigation into Bolton back in 2020 to determine if his book disclosed national secrets. That is until President Joe Biden shut down the investigation.
What this DOJ must do now is show that this wasn't just a retaliatory move. As I’ve said before, I don’t agree with the idea of just raiding to raid. That kind of intrusion must be justified. Now, what I do find interesting is that Bolton is a known Republican who served under President George W. Bush as well as the Trump Administration. We have both Democrats and Republicans being raided because this is an Administration that says we care about finding the leakers, regardless of their party affiliation. It signifies that it doesn't matter whether someone has an R next to their name or a D next to their name, or whose Administration they served in, no one is above the law in the eyes of the Trump Administration.
While President Trump stated he wasn’t aware of the raid, but promised a mystery announcement from the White House later in the day. At the time of our broadcast, we still had no idea what Trump would say – or if it would even be connected to the Bolton raid. It later turned out to be completely unrelated, as President Trump announced the 2026 FIFA World Cup draw would be held at the Kennedy Center in D.C. next year.
Today’s Sekulow broadcast included more analysis of the FBI raid of former Trump National Security Advisor John Bolton’s home and office. We were also joined by my brother, ACLJ Executive Director Jordan Sekulow, to discuss how prosecutors secured evidence that Comey authorized classified leaks, but declined to press charges in 2019.
