Biden IRS Tells Court It Has 43,000 Records Related to "BOLO" Lists, Targeting of Christians - Claims Would Take "Years" To Produce to ACLJ

Under President Joe Biden, the reinvigorated Deep State is back at it. We took the IRS to court again for targeting a conservative CHRISTIAN organization called Christians Engaged. When the group applied for tax-exempt status, they were told in writing that their request had been denied because of their beliefs in prayer and Biblical values.

We stepped in and quickly filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request and lawsuit demanding all records pertaining to the decision to deny their request.

Not surprisingly, the Biden IRS filed a motion to dismiss, but the Court denied its motion, essentially agreeing our case had merit and the IRS hadn’t produced any substantial reason why it should be thrown out.

Now, when forced under the accountability of court supervision, the IRS has reported that its search returned 43,000 records – not pages – individual records.

Here’s what we asked for:

  • All Be On the Lookout (BOLO) lists – this is what was used to target the Tea Party previously.
  • All legends or keys using the terms “Christian, Republican, Democrat, Conservative, Tea Party, intercessor, prayer, Word of God, and Liberal” – these are some of the terms in the outrageous legend used to first decline the tax-exempt status of a Christian group, Christians Engaged.
  • Any records about the “Bible” or “Biblical” – why is the IRS using these terms at all?
  • All documents related to the Christians Engaged denial.
  • And an Internal Revenue Manual mentioned in the Christians Engaged denial letter.

This returned 43,000 records – not pages, actual individual records. We also know these 43,000 records related to the above items were from a short 7-month window at the IRS. 43,000 records over the course of 7 months.

And now it’s complaining to the court that this is too many records to produce, telling the court it would take “years.” Think about that. Our FOIA prompted so many returns about the targeting of Christians and conservatives that the IRS couldn’t even keep up with records to review.

So we know the Biden IRS has returned to its old ways, targeting its political enemies and their supporters. And now it wants its agents to essentially be armed and dangerous. That should concern you.

We will continue to pursue this unconstitutional behavior as far as it leads and hold those behind it accountable.
