School Tells Students that President Trump and Charlie Kirk Are Not Heroes – Orders Them Not To Tell Parents

At a Kansas elementary school, a guidance counselor led a “Find Your Voice” assignment asking sixth graders to name role models, but silenced students who chose conservative figures like Charlie Kirk and President Trump. The counselor grew angry and ordered those names erased from the board. Then school administrators told students not to tell their parents. When our client sought to opt her children out, the school threatened detention, ignored the request, and imposed punitive conditions, forcing the family to withdraw. The ACLJ filed a federal complaint with the DOJ and Department of Education and is standing with our client as she testifies before the Kansas state legislature in support of legislative solutions, such as the Safeguarding Personal Expression at K-12 Schools (SPEAKS) Act, to protect student speech and parental rights.
