On Thursday, Vice President Kamala Harris set off a flurry of backlash after making an untrue, foreign-policy related comment that she didn’t even bother to correct:

So the United States shares a very important relationship, which is an alliance with the Republic of North Korea, and it is an alliance that is strong and enduring, and today there were several demonstrations of just that point.

Of all places for this to happen, the slip-up occurred while VP Harris was visiting the Demilitarized Zone that divides North and South Korea. When you’re a world leader, words have consequences. The unfortunate gaffe begs the question: is Kamala Harris even paying attention? My dad Jay Sekulow said it best:

Our allies are embarrassed, our enemies are emboldened, and we’re made to be a laughing stock.

Texas Congressman Michael Burgess made a fair point:

I'm glad she never went to the southern border, if that's the level of expertise that she's going to bring.

Missile launches by North Korea have book-ended VP Harris’ trip to the region. The U.S. and South Korea believe this is a build-up to Kim Jong-un’s first nuclear test in five years. ACLJ Senior Military Analyst Colonel Wes Smith says people need to understand that the Asia-Pacific area of the world is a “tinderbox.”:

North Korea is a rogue state . . . they, like Vladimir Putin from time to time, indicate that they are going to use nuclear weapons, and we have to take that threat seriously . . . . The focus cannot be misplaced, and we cannot let our guard down with the Pacific region.

Nancy Pelosi tried to one-up Harris’ gaffe this morning when she said this regarding disaster relief funds for those affected by Hurricane Ian:

Disaster relief funds, some of it needed right away for, for Iran..I-an, uh, Ian, but it's…more will be needed.

Today’s full Sekulow broadcast also includes an update on an ongoing situation of antisemitism at a well-known university in New York.

ACLJ Senior Counsel for International and Government Affairs Jeff Ballabon has been following this case:

City University of New York . . . you would think they would be a little more sophisticated than this . . . . Is this intentional? Are they actually trying to tell Jews, “you’re no longer welcome at any of our campuses,” because you could not create a more hostile situation for Jews on campus . . . .
