Is President Biden Repeating Obama's Mistakes?
As protests in Iran become more intense every day, there seems to be one common question growing among demonstrators: where is President Joe Biden? The protests stem from the death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini, whose family says she died at the hands of the Islamic Morality Police for not wearing her hijab correctly.
Now, Iranian-American journalist Masih Alinejad is calling out the Biden Administration, specifically National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan for continuing to “negotiate with murderers” over reinstating the Obama-era Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), also known as the Iran Nuclear Deal, while women are brutally beaten and killed by the Islamic regime. Sullivan recently defended the negotiations:
[Our] negotiations with Iran on its nuclear program is in no way impacting our willingness and our vehemence in speaking out about what is happening on the streets of Iran. We have, in fact, taken tangible steps to sanction those morality police who caused the death of Mahsa Amini.
Alinejad fired back, saying that the country doesn’t want Sullivan and President Biden to “save Iranian women” because “Iranian women are brave enough to bring democracy themselves to save themselves,” they just want them to stop “saving” their “murderers”:
You're a decent man, a decent man, Jake Sullivan. When you condemn morality police and the brutality of the police are killing people. I have a simple question. How come at the same time you're going to negotiate with the murderers . . . It means you're giving billions of dollars to those who killed Massa. I don't get this contradiction. I hope I can have a meeting with you, Jake Sullivan, with President Biden and make it clear that Iranian people are in the streets to get rid of this regime.
ACLJ Senior Military Analyst, Colonel Wes Smith, provided us with an interesting reminder today about Jake Sullivan:
Jake Sullivan . . . was the leader of the team under Secretary of State Hillary Clinton who engaged in secret talks with Iran to get the first Iran Nuclear Deal signed and also to give Iran billions of dollars.
Colonel Smith says that if we re-enter a nuclear deal and lift sanctions two things will happen:
Nuclear weapons research and development will continue, and people will continue to be oppressed . . . . If we sign the deal with Iran, it negates all that’s going on in the name of freedom in that country.
Meanwhile, the Iranian Regime is so intimidated by Masih Alinejad’s voice and influence, that Iranian Intelligence Officials plotted to kidnap her last year on American soil. The plot was foiled, and four officials were charged in federal court in Manhattan. Alinejad also said that Mahsa Amini’s death is a “tipping point” and compared protests to the Berlin Wall:
If Iranian women manage to tear this wall down, the Islamic Republic won’t exist.
