Possible Fairness Doctrine Vote Today

The Senate has started debate on the DeMint Amendment, which would add the Broadcaster Freedom Act to the legislation being considered.  This amendment would effectively ban the Fairness Doctrine from being re-implemented.  Unfortunately, Sen. Durbin has simultaneously offered an amendment that would do exactly what we have feared require the FCC to promote diversity and operate in the public interest. 

Let me be very clearthe Durbin Amendment reinstates the Fairness Doctrine under another name.  Votes on both amendments will occur at approximately 2:00 p.m.  Stay tuned for updates as debate moves forward.
