More Support for Broadcaster Freedom Act
It appears we're getting closer to getting the votes necessary for the full House to consider the Broadcaster Freedom Act, a measure that would prevent the return of the crippling Fairness Doctrine.

I received an encouraging report from Drew Ryun, our Director of Government Affairs, who attended an important news conference yesterday. Congressman Mike Pence, House Minority Leader John Boehner and other members of the House leadership hosted a press conference to call on House members to sign the Broadcaster Freedom Act discharge petition. By the end of the day, five more signatures were added to the discharge petition-movement in the right direction, but its still 23 signatures short of the 218 needed to bring the bill to the floor.
There's limited time available to get this legislation to the floor for a vote. In two weeks, Congress adjourns for the July 4th recess. After being gone for two weeks, they will return for four weeks before the August recess. The fact is that since this is an election year, legislative activity on Capitol Hill will come to a crawl after Labor Day. That being the case, we have a very limited window in which to get the Broadcaster Freedom Act to the House floor and get it passed, permanently eliminating the Fairness Doctrine.
In the Spotlight section, I have posted the petition to Congress; and if you haven't done so already, please add your name to this Discharge Petition. At the same time, there's a list of House members of who have yet to support the Discharge Petition. If you have a House member on that list, please contact them immediately and urge them to take the appropriate action.
We're approaching the 218 votes needed to bring this measure to the House floor for a critical vote. We're still 23 votes short. The time to act is now!
We know that if the Broadcaster Freedom Act is not passed, there's a real possibility that the Fairness Doctrine - which would cripple Christian broadcasting - would return. The first step to getting the Act approved is getting it to the House floor for a vote. We'll keep you posted on the progress.
