A Time for Thanks; A Time for Resolve
In many ways this has been a good year at the ACLJ. There is much to be thankful for—we’ve won key, precedent setting victories in court here at home, and we’ve even made progress fighting Christian persecution abroad.
At home, we’ve defended the rights of Christian students and professors, won a key victory for pro-life pregnancy centers, and helped defeat the ObamaCare abortion-pill mandate—and that’s just a partial list.
Abroad, we helped save Sudanese Christian mother Meriam Ibrahim from death row, and our relentless activism (combined with your voice) helped persuade the Obama Administration to intervene to stop a genocide in progress in Iraq. Even in Pakistan, where Christian persecution is on a shocking rise, our pressure has led to the arrests of dozens of the worst offenders.
At the same time, however, there is much work to be done. Pastor Saeed Abedini, an American husband and father, will spend yet another Thanksgiving wrongly imprisoned in Iran for his Christian faith. Thousands of American families are leaving an empty place setting at their Thanksgiving table to remember Pastor Saeed and the millions of other Christians facing an unprecedented wave of persecution across the globe.
While we’re thankful for our liberty here at home, we must remain vigilant. Moreover, we cannot rest until Christian life and Christian liberty are protected across the globe.
We’ve been given much. Much is expected of us. Thus, even as we give thanks, we renew our resolve.
May God bless you and may God bless his persecuted people.
