This is the latest installment in a year-end series looking back at a few of the many victories by the ACLJ in 2015.

In 2009, a radical Islamic terrorist, Major Nidal Hasan, launched a jihadist onslaught on the Army base at Fort Hood, murdering 13 soldiers and wounding 32 others.

Disturbingly, the Obama Administration labeled this clear terrorist attack merely an instance of “workplace violence.”  By refusing to classify this attack as an act of war, not only were the dead and wounded heroes of Ft. Hood denied the right to receive the Purple Heart for their sacrifice, the surviving soldiers and families of the fallen were denied crucial military and veterans benefits.

The ACLJ took decisive action – on behalf of tens of thousands of Americans - demanding the Administration recognize the attack for what it truly was – a jihadist attack on U.S. soil in the War on Terror – and allow these brave men and women in uniform who made the ultimate sacrifice in the fight for our freedom to receive the honor and benefits they so desperately deserved.

Early this year, after a years-long battle, the Administration awarded the Purple Heart medal to the victims of this terrorist attack.  Yet, the Administration unbelievably refused to grant these heroes the benefits earned by their valiant sacrifice.

Unrelenting, the ACLJ continued to aggressively press the Administration until the U.S. Army finally announced the victims would also receive their long-awaited and much deserved benefits.

You raised your voice.  You made a huge impact in the lives of these American heroes.  Now these brave soldiers are properly honored for their heroism.
