Update on Lawsuit Protecting Pharmacists
I want to update you on the lawsuit we filed a couple of weeks ago in state court in Illinois on behalf of two pro-life pharmacists who did not want to violate their conscience and their religious beliefs by being forced to dispense abortion-producting drugs.
Frank Manion was in court yesterday in Illinois. We were hoping to move forward with a hearing on a motion for an injunction - to bar the Illinois Governor from moving forward with his directive ordering pharmacists to dispense all medications regardless of their religious objections. The attorneys representing the Governor filed a motion asking the court to dismiss our suit. I have instructed Frank and his team to prepare an aggressive response to this motion. As we pursue that legal avenue, it now apprears the court will not hear our motion for injunctive relief for some time. I will keep you posted on this very important issue as it progresses through the legal system. Frank is also hearing from other pro-life pharmacists who don't want to comply with the Governor's directive. This is an important issue and we will continue to work to protect the religious beliefs of those pharmacists.
